Diamond Lil B-24 / WWII Greatest Generation Reunion

Chapter President Jeannette Gutierrez made a longtime dream of hers come true when she organized and event to reunite the B-24 Liberator bomber Diamond Lil with the women who built her, the men who flew her, and the brave Tuskegee Airmen who escorted her on missions. The wonderful folks at the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) who keep Diamond Lil flying shared the dream, and worked with Jeannette to make it happen!

The ARRA Michigan Willow Run Chapter honored WWII Rosies, Veterans, the Tuskegee Airmen at the beautiful Oakland County International Airport Main Terminal, against the stunning backdrop of the historic Diamond Lil B-24 Bomber airplane. Jeannette created the program and emceed the event, with the amazing help our ARRA Rosie the Riveter Drill Team, our ARRA Vintage Beauties, Cheryl Hilvert and Jerry of the Commemorative Air Force, J. David VanderVeen of the Oakland County Executive Office, Mayor Deirdre Waterman of the City of Pontiac who declared it WWII Greatest Generation Day, our friends at the Pontiac Transportation Museum, and a stunning performance of the National Anthem by Amber Taylor, Executive Director of the Flint’s Back to the Bricks. All of these amazing people took time out of their busy schedules yesterday to help us honor the Greatest Generation of WWII!
